I'll bet you were raised near here. JASON ANDREWS: Newport Beach. I made my way up slowly -- from Newport to UCLA from '84 through '88. I was a psych major. FM: Always good training for work in the pornography industry. Why the move to San Francisco? JA: I graduated and was really bored with L.A. A couple of friends of mine had made the move already. We're all really heavily involved in the gymnastics community, and there were coaches opening up a training facility there, and they offered me a job. So I moved. FM: How long have you been a gymnast? JA: Since I was 8 years old. That's one set of skills that hasn't been captured on film yet. FM: So can all gymnasts suck themselves off? JA: Well, actually, you know, I've tried, but I don't have the flexibility. I really don't. There's so much muscle mass in the lower back of a gymnast that it's impossible to bend over like that. It would be easier for a dancer. FM: I'm told you live very close to the Detour bar (Silverlake, Los Angeles), where you spend many happy hours on the pool table in Falcon's Hot Pursuit. JA: [Laughs] You know, I'd never been there until we did that film, but no I go a lot. FM: How's the view of the ceiling from the pool table? JA: Excellent. The truth was, I was supposed to be playing this lost boy from the suburbs who leaves his lover and moves to the big city -- a good boy gone bad. I end up working in all these sleazy places like a sex club and blah, blah, blah. Then I end up working in the Detour, and get raped on night, and my lover [David Montana] is supposed to rush in and save me. _________________________  |
