years active: 1976 - 1983 aka: stats / info: Nationality: U.S.A. From: Sacramento County, CA Born: 1945 Excerpts - Al Parker interview with Jerry Douglas from MANSHOTS, July 1990: Al Parker: Mike was my best friend. And he is an artist. Manshots: Did you meet him when you worked together at Colt? AP: No, I met him before Colt. He was a very well known set designer in Las Vegas. He was always willing to work for me for next to nothing, and he built great sets. That thing of making one dollar look like five, again. MS: And there was the added plus that you could also put him on the screen. AP: Which he was very reluctant to do at that point. He felt very confident in still work and silent films. But he had a speech impediment that he was very self-conscious about -- it wasn't really noticeable to anyone but him, but I had to really convince him that he was right for the film. None of us knew that that point -- but I don't think he was well at that time. GAMES (1982) was his last film as a performer. I think it was his only talking movie. |
