Mike Arlen's comments:

''The first day I met Hardy I tried on a Russian outfit on him and told him his strong points were his face and his erection, but that, as he told me he had access to a free gym, it would help if he worked on the chest and arms as I was prepared to wait months to see if he acquired any definition there as, with it, he would appeal to more of my public in the final session. Several amateur photographers reacted so much to the test shots they were quite happy to book him for photoshoots and pay his fare (quite a long way from London).

Later, Mr. Cybulski came to London for a few days for job interviews so I grabbed him for an updated session, as the shots of him in Volume 15 were only the test shots I had taken on our first meeting. He had grown a moustache and short beard which seemed fine in the western outfit I organized for him.''
